The smarts gal’s guide to being prepared this festival season and not being “that girl” at Coachella!

1) PREPARE YOUR BODY...
You are about to be walking for miles, on your feet all night and surrounded by strangers and their germs. Not only get some physical activity in the week leading up to the festival, but build up your immune system. I love how turmeric juice shots make me feel and give me an amazing boost of energy. Whole Foods has my favorite but Fresh Juice Bar has a great option as well! Click the following links for locations or a recipe to make your own...

2) DO NOT BRING A HUGE PURSE
Because if you do, I promise you will be regretting it about 15 minutes in. Instead bring something small and functional and yes you do need something that is at least big enough to hold a water bottle...just trust and believe! My favorite option is either a backpack or fancy fanny pack. These are the links to my favorite options below.

3) MOTHER NATURE CAN BE A BEAST, BUT SO CAN A BANDANA
I have seen record heat, rain and insane wind over the years. But don't you worry there is a simple peice of fabric that can become your new best friend... A bandana is a MUST! Use it as a cute fashion statement during the day then as soon as you start walking through a wind storm pull that baby over your nose and mouth. The dust can be gnarly and after the first "coachella cough" aka bronochitis I got, I decided I would not leave home without it. Then during the heat of the day, get it wet to cool you down. We learned to ask a water vendor if they will just dip your bandana in their cooler for you. That way it is ice cold and you can put it around your neck to keep you from overheating! Then if it rains you can use it as a mini shield, I know not ideal but better than carrying an umbrella around.

4) DRESS COMFORTABLY
I completely understand the need to be in an "insta worthy" outfit, but when you are spending a full day out in the sun, wind, rain (or whatever mother nature throws our way) you will not be worried about how cute your new gladiator sandals are, but you will be worried about how many blisters you currently have only in hour 3 of day 1. Dress in layers, wearing something over a cute pair of jean shorts and crop top like a thin kimono is perfect. You can take it off if it gets too warm and tie it to your fanny pack for a cute pop of color, use it to sit on the grass when you need to take a break and then throw it back on as the sun goes down. There is nothing worse than trying to have a good time but being super uncomfortable because you wanted to be fashion forward and realizing you should have listened to #palmtreesandprettythings :)!

5) BUILD A GAME PLAN
If you are with a large group of people this festival season, it is important to make sure that everyone is on the same page. The key to this is having everyone decide which acts they HAVE TO see. Then decide if there are conflicting times and if some of the group wants to see one act at the same time as other people want to see a different act don't be afraid to split up. You will be so disappointed if you made it all the way to Coachella just to miss your favorite band. The key is to NEVER go by yourself, break off in small groups and have a meeting spot. When you get into the festival before breaking off, set a location and a time where you will all get back together. Be very specific about this location, there will be hundreds of thousands of people, so saying "meet at the beer gardens" will not work...saying "We will meet right here in front of this women's bathroom across from the ferris wheel" is more like it. Even drop a pin and share with your group so there are no questions! Cell phone service is touch and go so do not rely solely on it.
COACHELLA WILL RELEASE AN APP SOON... WHERE YOU CAN BUILD YOUR SCHEDULE & HAVE A MAP OF THE GROUNDS!

6) YOU DO NOT NEED TO BRING YOUR ENTIRE WALLET
All merchandise and concessions vendors now have apple pay and android pay. So do not worry about bringing all of your cards that are easy to lose (don't forget your ID). How cool is that? Click Here for more info to set it up on your phone!
